I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from university of Gondar, Ethiopia and I have secured my master’s degree in master of business administration from the same University, University of Gondar, Ethiopia. I am 29 years old. I have over 7 years banking experience with my current branch manager position in Bunna Bank, Ethiopia. I am a very enthusiastic and creative person with wide variety of interests. I need to conduct research on Sustainable development and other challenges in the developing world. I am to become well trained in the field and prepared for my future career.

This project proposal aims to contribute to the development of innovative climate finance mechanisms that can effectively support developing countries in their climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. By doing so, we can enhance their resilience, promote sustainable development, and achieve global climate goals

Tleetse Phakoe, Lesotho

Ada Phakoe, born and breed in Lesotho, is a women empowerment and climate justice activist who is playing a pivotal role in community-led initiatives for sustainable development. Ada started her journey in Civic Leadership in 2020, by joining a rural women’s movement. A platform to address a wide range of women concerns focused on SDGs 1, 2, 3,5,6. In 2022, Ada founded an initiative led by women and youth for a just future. She has hands on experience in community based environmental projects and a commitment to addressing the disproportionate impact of climate change on vulnerable communities(SDG 13).

The project is climate education with practical on climate smart agriculture and organic fertilizer production. I am teaching communities, especially vulnerable people in communities such as women, youth, and people living with disability, how to use the best sustainable practices for the environment when farming and so as to produce organic food. They practice agroecology, agroforestry, permaculture to mention but a few. Since women are the peasant farmers and produce food for family consumption, it is paramount that they produce organic food on a small scale since they do not own land they do their farming in their gardens. I train and mentor these marginalized groups within their communties so they lead the initiatives and it promotes a sense of ownership.

Richard Nketiah, Ghana

I am Nketiah Richard, an agriculturist deeply passionate about regenerative agriculture. My focus is on the adoption of sustainable farming methods that prioritize the well-being of the soil, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience. Within my professional domain, I am dedicated to advancing food security, environmental preservation, and community welfare. My primary focus is on exploring innovative agricultural techniques that aim to revitalize and enhance the natural environment while ensuring the long-term sustainability of farming systems. I am firmly dedicated to creating a positive impact on land, its inhabitants, and the environment through my efforts in regenerative agriculture.

The Centre for Restoring Agriculture Ecology is youth-led and driven community empowerment initiative aimed at supporting small holder farmers in rural area in Ghana to combat climate change stresses. It does this by adopting climate resilient practices such as agroforestry, Permanent soil, minimum soil disturbance and crop diversification. The organization seek to build the capacity of rural farmers through trainings in sustainable agriculture and community advocacy using the community level information center to create awareness of the climate change and its cross-cutting issues such as gender inequality.

Muhammad Barkat Ali Khan, Pakistan

I was born in the remote mountainous area of Swat, situated in the northern part of Pakistan. The area is famous for its unique scenic beauty and tourism. I was graduated from University of Peshawar, now my Ph.D is in progress. My working career started by joining a local NGO, and then different national and international organizations. Currently I am working as Assistant Professor with Higher Education Department. I attended Wyse ILP 2013. My main interests are to work for the uplift of communities especially behavior change, education, building resilience to natural hazards, and clean and green cities.

Our project is dedicated to raising awareness and empowering remote mountain communities to combat climate change. We aim to engage college students belong to these areas by providing them with training activities on climate related issues. Through a series of targeted awareness raising sessions and interactive activities, we will work collaboratively to equip these communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to address the challenges posed by climate change in their unique environment

Lucy Matola, Malawi

Lucy Matola 29 years old is a diploma holder in Agriculture education obtained from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Lucy is a secondary school school teacher. Besides teaching she also train youth who have just finished secondary school, equipping them with knowledge and skills in agriculture while addressing the issue of climate change.

Lue farm initiative started in the year 2020 with an aim of equipping young people with necessary knowledge and expertise to succeed in life.
The main objective of this initiative is to empower young people to become productive members of society and contribute to the economic growth of their communities.

Karunarathnalage Lilan Udayanga Dayananda, Sri Lanka

Lilan Dayananda is an international award-winning young social tech entrepreneur who is among the latest top ten Social Entrepreneurs of the Global South according to the United Nations. Lilan was recognized among the top meaningful business founders in 2023 by Ernst & Young (EY), Hogan Lovells Global Law Firms, and Babson College.
For years, his social initiatives have come up with innovative solutions that can apply to climate action and biodiversity restoration. One of his social ventures (founded by him) has the world’s first scientifically validated methodology to quantify the human contribution to Primary Ecosystem Services.

The Earth Restoration LifeForce Project aims to facilitate new transparent investment opportunities in biological resources & related management while incentivizing landowner participation in the restoration process through the positive externalities values (Primary Ecosystem Services) transacted from their landscape to the Global Commons. We have the world’s first validated methodology to quantify the human contribution to Primary Ecosystem Services with international and local, forestry and ecology experts’ peer reviews.

Juliana Gaertner, Germany living in UK

Juliana is an investigative researcher focused on climate justice. As Senior Strategist at nonprofit ARIA, she scrutinizes power, politics and corporate accountability in the transition away from fossil fuels. She has worked with communities, researchers and governments around the world to shape progressive climate policy. Most recently, she was the Environmentalist in Residence at the British Library, worked with the international human rights organisation Global Witness, and advised the directors of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. She holds an MPhil in Environmental Policy from Oxford University.

This project aims to systematically scrutinize key structures and actors working to undermine just climate action in Europe to create more long-term transparency and accountability in this space.

I'm Muhammad Fahad. Currently enrolled in University of Peshawar. Studying International Relations 7th semester. I'm social activist and blood Chain Pakistan member. Also working as a volunteer with SPADO Organization on Sustainable developments goals. As accordingly my previous career I'm interesting in promoting peace, harmony and cohesion in societies. Also focusing on gender inequality and climate change which is dominant issue in our pushtoon society.

Save Earth today to Survive Tomorrow focuses on providing climate literacy to the children of school and colleges. In our project we will engage the young bloods to have some sort of education on the inevitable consequences of climate change so, they can be hand-in-hand to minimize it's wrath in the near future.

Obadare Adenekan, Nigeria

Obadare Adenekan is an individual who is enthusiastic about climate change, global youth and international development, and program management, and has worked on building two thriving tech startups and three non-profit organizations (Ecosystem Restoration Alliance, Special Children Advocacy and Home Alive). He is obsessed with the idea of using social innovation to solve practical human-centric problems. 

He was selected as the 2021 Mundus Maris World Ocean day prize (Turtle Prize) winner out of 61 entries involving over 10 countries, 2020 Mundus Maris (Brussels, Belgium) Honorary Diploma Awardee for his contribution to the BOOK OF THE MARINE WORLD, 8th Millennium Ocean Prize winner, Going for Gold Network Grant winner, a top 100 finalist in the 2022 Moonshot grant out of entries from over +1500 applicants.

He is an exceptionally innovative leader, social changemaker, award-winning scholar, and complex problem solver with proven skills in oversight, learning development, strategic leadership, and process improvements.

Step for Ocean is a campaign that exists to create awareness about SDG 14: Life Below Water by actively engaging local communities in a coastal relay race, beach clean-ups, and knowledge-sharing activities with ocean and waste management experts. I'm Joshua Abakah, and i work with the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC-Ghana). I work directly with the Construction and Building Materials Workers Union which is an affiliate of the TUC- Ghana, where i work as the Head of Administration Department. I'm also the Youth Desk Officer. As the Head of Administration Department, obviously I've got lots of task. The entire running of the company is mostly dependent on me as i have to make sure things are put in place and the organisation is running effectively.

Green Ghana focuses on SDG 13 (Climate Action). We have to save the planet from the impending danger that it faces. We intend planting more seedlings in the communities. We also intend to have more education on Climate change in the communities where we find schools, organisations and homes. When people are educated on the effect of the climate change they would also help save the planet.

John Bobor Smart, Sierra Leone

I’m John Bobor Smart the National Coordinator for Earth Regenerative project Sierra Leone –NGO I have supervised and monitor the planting of ten thousand economic trees of different varieties in eight communities in Tonkolili District. The planting of these trees came about to plant more trees in deforestated areas in our communities as these trees will help reduce climate change impact. I love to see where environmental protection, climate change mitigation and adaption action are urgently taken, and the emission of greenhouse gases no longer exists. Currently am leading campaigns on awareness raising on climate change education and environment.

The establishment of the economic tree crop nursery site will be a major source of planting materials for afforestation, associated ecosystem services, and biodiversity preservation. The project will benefit the direct beneficiaries through livelihood to the community and sustainable environmental protection and management as a result of the establishment of an economic tree crop nursery site.

Iskender Usupbaev, Kyrgyzstan

I am a young, international development professional focusing on Social Enterprise. I've been working with International Alert and CAREC in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan after graduating from the IUCA where I studied International Relations. My professional interest began to evolve when I worked for Almaty Management University where I coordinated a business incubator and Babson Student Challenge (a competition in which students develop business concepts and start-ups for the UN SDGs. Today, I am finishing the MPS International Development program at Cornell, developing a Capstone project on the business incubation as means to achieve the UN SDGs.

I hold a Bachelors on environmental Science, did 7 months internship at the National Environment Agency. Due to my passion for climate action, I'm involved in climate research, seminars, and projects on environmental related issues. I served as The Gambia NDC Ambassador on the 2020 NDC Project with Care About Climate and conducted a study tour with the Ecosystem Based Adaptation Project in enhancing climate resilience. I like to use my knowledge to help future generations, educate my community on how to take action against climate change. went to Stockholm+50 Conference, UNDP "We Don't Have Time" in Sweden.

Climate & Health: The project is a grass root project yet to start the work looking for support and funds. My goal achieve equal rights to health and education to both women and children. Identify how injustice been to marginalized communities and how we can support and hear their stories. Access to safe clean water and sanitation for all.

Bulbul Ratemo, Kenya

My name is Bulbul Ratemo a 26-year-old development communication assistant currently working at Kenya Forest Service. I am a social scientist with an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Human Security Studies and a Master's degree in Development Communication. I am interested in writing argumentative pieces exploring different concepts and their applicability in social structures and I am currently curious about how media can be employed to liberate marginalised communities and social groups to foster human development.

Indigenous Knowledge Systems employed by rural communities in areas such as agriculture, water abstraction and food preservation etc., are slowly getting lost and replaced with modern systems that are destructive to the environment. This loss is ironically attributed to lack of adequate information in an increasingly informed digital world. Hence, my project aims to employ emerging media to mainstream these methods and aid in advocacy and scaling up of the methods.

Ashok Pandey, Nepal

Mr. Ashok Pandey is a registered public health professional in Nepal. He successfully served as a researcher at Nepal Health Research Council for more than six years and wrote on the issues of climate change and disease. In the year 2020, he was awarded Mirgendra Samjhana Medical Trust Young Researcher Award at the 6th National Summit of Nepal by NHRC. He has published more than three dozen research articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored more than a dozen of national-level research reports and numerous newspaper articles.
